Role Mole is a mole that wears glasses and the problem is that he always puts them down without
realizing and then he can never find them later. He's going on a date and he needs something that looks pretty
sleek and that will keep him from losing his glasses.
It was up to us to design something for him.
I thought about the props that I could use from my belongings here and thought it would be really cool if
Role Mole wore a stylish looking hat with his glasses attached to the underside of the top. At first, the idea was
a top hat, but I couldn't get one in time to present, so I used my cowboy-looking hat instead. My next idea was
to use an old hard drive magnet and glue it to the underside of the hat and then simply let the glasses stick to it.
The first problem was that I could not come by this magnet in time, so I had to use a weaker magnet in my
room. The second problem was the the metal glasses I was using were not magnetic. I had to cut a piece of
steel and glue it to the front of the glasses, making sure that they still looked quite stylish. This was my final
product. Role Mole was to keep his glasses stuck to the magnet inside his cool hat when he wasn't using them.
Since this gave him a place to keep his glasses he would
be sure not to lose them.
If there was one thing that Role Mole taught me and everyone else, it's that design must include fashion as
well as functionability. Without either of these two things, the word design has no meaning. In this project, we
quite clearly had to design a functionable and fashionable way for Role Mole to keep his glasses at hand.
........ That's Stylin'.
