Garfield!

So, the story is that garfield has to go to a picnic and he must carry 6 full cans of soda to the picnic with

him. Unfortunately, he only has cardboard to make a carrier out of, no adhesives and no other materials. If he

doesn't succeed in doing this, he won't get any lasagna, and the less cardboard he uses, the more lasagna he'll

get.

I had just finished up project 2 before this, in which we were to use a system of design called

deconstructive solid geometry to design a part in WebCAD. Being in this mindset, I took this approach to

building garfield's carrying case. I started by unfolding the given box and then drawing cutouts from it until I

figured I could cut out no more. At this point I went ahead with the building and all turned out successful!

Of all the things I learned from this project, the most valuable was that although complicated and intricate

designs look cool, it's the simple ones that turn out to be the most effective and most efficient. I, unfortunately

would have to call my design complicated, because it was neither simple, nor as efficient as the majority of

designs.
