This toy (which would most likely be used and enjoyed by adults as well as children) consists of layers of clear plates fixed horizontally in a box frame, resembling a tower. Light is shown down on the tower from the top. On each story (layer) of the tower the user places translucent (clear or colored) tiles of differing size and shape. Each tile is made in such a way that it projects a pattern or shape onto the next level and eventually the ground. Some tiles could be lenses -- to alter the projected image rather than themselves projecting a pattern or shape. The final result will be an image projected onto the ground that has been created by the user by arranging the tiles. This image can be transferred onto a sheet of film-like 'memory paper' that has been placed on the ground at the base of the tower (you know... it's that stuff you used in third grade to make pinhole cameras with). The device will demonstrate to children properties of optics and encourage creativity.
