Slinky Slinger

The Slinky Slinger is a fun, interactive toy that basically is an extension of the old standby sling shot. In this case, instead of simply slinging a rubber band, children are able to sling slinkies that have weights attached to either end. Hence, when the slinkies land, the continue to act like a slinky and bounce. The basic physical priniciple underlying the toy is potential energy. Potential energy is stored as the child pulls back the band to launch the slinky. This energy is later converted and causes the slinky to move as it hits the ground. The toy is intended for ages 7 and up, as the use has to be careful with the rubber band. The idea for the Slinky Slinger came from seeing slinkies on a webpage, and noting that they are a simple, yet fascinating toy.
