Exercises

Role Mole:

This was an exercise that wanted us to design a holder for Role Moles' glasses. It was meant to be stylish as well as make sure he did not lose his glasses as he a history of doing so. My design was a belt holster that was made of cardboard. It attached by a belt to Role Mole. He could just slip the glasses into the case and know where they are. I learned that it takes a lot more time then planned to manufacture things. Here is a picture of my device:

Garfield:

In this project we were to design a holder for six full cans of soda with only cardboard. We were not allowed to use anything but cardboard that we were assigned. I learned a lot from this exercise. I found it was quite hard to get everything to fit together and stay together while still trying to use as little cardboard as possible. A picture of the holder is here:

Green Acres:

In this exercise we were supposed to create a holder for 3 eggs using green methods. This means using materials that are non harmful for the environment. I went through a couple different designs. At first I was going to use cardboard. Then I decided to make it out of paper mache using environmentally friendly Styrofoam pellets. I learned that it is difficult to design a product that only takes into account environmentally friendly products. Here is a picture of my holder:
