The Undergraduate Research Symposium is a university-wide open to all Carnegie Mellon undergraduates conducting research and creative projects.The "Meeting of the Minds" provides an opportunity for students to share their projects with the campus community through oral, poster and artistic presentations. You can talk about your project, compete in a poster competition, display your art, give a live performance, or show your work in the video and electronic media room. All students are encouraged to apply!
The fifth annual Undergraduate Research Symposium will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2000 (the reading day during finals). Concurrent sessions will run from 12 - 5 pm followed by an awards ceremony.
Please complete an
on-line registration form. There are no paper forms for this
year's Symposium. You must register by April 7, 2000 to
participate in the Undergraduate Research
Symposium.
The on-line form will ask you to provide some information on
yourself and your project. You will also need to provide an abstract.
This should be a brief description of your project (no more than
250 words) including your research methods and results.
Abstracts will be posted on this web site--please
let us know if you would prefer that we did not post yours.
Please be sure to complete ALL information requested on the form. All of the 39-245 projects will be in the same room.
Answers to questions on the forms:
After you have registered, you will receive a packet by mail with additional information to help you prepare for your presentation, a name tag and a t-shirt. If you have any questions, please call the Undergraduate Research Initiative at 268-5702.
A special note to groups: group presentations are welcomed and encouraged in all presentation types. Simply indicate that it is a group submission on the application form and submit a separate form for each student. Only one abstract is needed.
