The Walking Gorilla
- The Walking Gorilla is a basic wind-up toy that can walk on the ground. The motion has two parts, the arms moving forward then touching the ground, then the rest of the body (head, torso, and legs) would follow. The motion is meant to be similar to a gorilla or monkey using their hands then feet to walk.
- The toy would be based on the use of a gearbox and the conversion of potential energy (winding up) to kinetic energy (walking).
- The construction cost would be fairly low because the most complex part would be the gearbox. One part that may be difficult would be to get the walking mechanics accurate. The toy would be made out of plastic and would be pretty durable to dropping and throwing. I think that it may not last as long as other toys because of the way it moves, something may be able to damage it. It would also be a safe toy and would be large enough not to cause a choking hazard and would not be made from deadly materials.
