The Aggressive Box
Sketch #1
Description
- This toy is based on fear, and the accepted notion that fear brings
excitement. Children cannot help but open the box due to initial curiosity, but do so repeatedly for the thrill of it lunging forward at them.
- When opened, this toy (through geraing and springs) opens a bottom "mouth" hatch, as illustrated, and pushes itself forward, opening its jaw-filled (yet harmless) mouth. Eventually, the box flips 180 degrees, and the process starts again.
- a description of how children will interact with the toy,
- Construction cost entails several sheets of bass wood (~$5), internal gearing, spring loading (~$5), and paint (~$0.50). In total, the box would cost between $10.00 to $12.00 to build. Mass production would most likely halve the cost.
