Concept II. Adjustable See-Saw

- Since a see saw is merely a simple machine, giving it some mechanical
advantage would allow more of a variety of people to use it.
- When the handle is turned, the gear rotates. There is a rubber ball
in a groove on the see-saw, which is attached to a rack. The rack and pinion
system would move the cener of rotation of the see-saw (the fulcrum). This
would enable any two people to use the see-saw, regardless of weight. Actually,
the rack and pinion would be in a protective casing
- A child would need the help of an adult to operate this toy. An adult
would be needed to crank the handle (not requring much force), and to ensure
proper calibration. Once this is done, the even weighted restraint of a
see-saw is removed, and children of any age (or adults) can use this toy.
- This would be fairly expensive to manufacture, due to the need for
heavy duty material. Once built though, the see saw should be highly durable,
although the rubber ball would eventually wear
