Concept

Pop Goes The Weasel is a toy based on the basic priciples of a volcano. The toy is pumped up(via the handle) to accumulate pressure within the chamber. Once a set amount of pressure is reached, the diaphram within the toy opens and forces the weasel off of his seat. The child can then use the tray on top of the pump to catch the weasel on its way down.

Physical Concept

The major physical concept involved with Pop Goes The Weasel is to demonstrate how an accumulation of pressure within a vessel can result in a sudden explosion(similiar to a volcano). The child would be able to understand first hand the principles behind a volcano by personally building up the pressure and witnessing the explosion.

Safety Features

A warning to parents would be placed on the toy to caution them on the dangers of pointing the toy at others. The diaphram within the pump would also be set at a low pressure to prevent injury.

Cost

The cost of this toy would be 5 - 10 dollars.

Suggested Age

Children should be at least 8 years of age to play with this toy.
