Sketch 3

-The Mousetrap Car is based on the principles of mechanical energy and friction.

-The child winds the rubber band around the axle until the rubber band is taught, then the child sets the mousetrap in the ready position. When the child wants the car to go, he/she simply releases the mousetrap, then the back axle spins, and the car moves forward.

-Children 11 and up are able to play with The Mousetrap Car.

-The Mousetrap Car is cheap to make and sell; it consists of balsa wood, a mousetrap, two wooden axles, and four wheels. The Mousetrap Car is relatively durable, with no parts that can be easily broken. It is susceptible to damage, though, if it is stepped on or thrown. The Mousetrap Car is safe to play with, but children must be careful when setting and releasing the mousetrap.
