Bungee Tire Swing

The Bungee Tire Swing is a toy based on the principles of gravity and elastic potential energy. A tire is suspended between 2 bungee cords so that the child can sit in it and bounce up and down, as if bungee jumping, but in a much safer enviornment. The force of the child's weight pulling the tire down will be stored as energy in one bungee cord, which will pull the child up. As the child goes up this energy will be stored in the other cord and as gravitational potential energy. The child will again be pulled down by both gravitational and bungee force. The child can enjoy this bouncing, as well as alter the motion by adding force from their body to increrase the motion.

This toy is recommended for children ages 8 or up as there is some intrinsic danger in the bouncing. The Bungee Tire Swing will be sold as a package with the 2 bungee cords, the tire, and the proper hanging and connecting mechanisms. It will need to be constructed from durable but readily available materials, so construction costs will be reasonable.
