Electromagnetic Race Car
What it is
- A race car, powered by an electromagnetic
charger and an electric motor.
- Teaches the physical concepts of electricity
and magnetism.
What it does
- An electromagnetic generator in the hand
charger induces an electric current in the connection wire between it and
the car (when the crank is turned) that charges an electric motor in the
car.
- When the car is charged and a switch is
flipped, the motor will power the car forward.
- Multiple cars can all be raced, providing some
friendly competition.
Who it's for
- This toy is generally meant for children 5 and
up. They need to be old enough to know how to attach and detach the
charger from the car, and how it is to be charged.
- The youngest children may not understand the principle of
magnetism, or how current it produced through magnetic induction, but
can still enjoy the toy.
Is it safe?
- The plug is designed to only work with the car,
so no safety hazard of an accidental shock will occur.
Construction and Cost
- The car and charger are made of durable,
colorful plastic as to remain light but strong.
- None of the material for the toy should cost
much, except for the electromagnet charger, so overall cost should be about
$15.
