The SLA machines are rather expensive, costing in excess of $250,000. The polymer is also expensive, typically costing about $800/gallon. Therefore, the cost of the model is drastically lower if the design is hollow.

We got a quotation of $425 to make a small propeller as shown below using the SLA process. It is beyond our budget so we decided to do the same part in FDM which cost less than $40 but it's less accurate.
