Computer Vision Misc Reading Group 2001

Year 2001    (in reverse chronological order)

Date Presenter Description
11/28/2001

Wednesday
12:30 pm
NSH 2609

Charles Rosenberg I will be presenting some very preliminary object detection results and loosely labeled data results. Again, because the work is highly preliminary there is no reading associated with this presentation.

11/12/2001

Monday
1:00 pm
NSH 4201

Dennis Strelow We are meeting to discuss the Amit, Geman, and Wilder paper.   Paper.

11/5/2001

Monday
12:30 pm
NSH 4201

Matt Deans I'll be talking about work I did over the summer on bearings-only simultaneous localization and mapping (of course). For the meeting you can read a paper I submitted to ICRA:   Paper.

10/29/2001

Monday
12:30 pm
NSH 4201

Charles Rosenberg I will be presenting a paper recommended by Shyjan:

Antifaces: a novel, fast method for image detection. Keren, D.; Osadchy, M.; Gotsman, C. IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, Volume: 23 Issue: 7, July 2001, Pages: 747-761.   Paper.   Local Mirror.

10/22/2001

Monday
12:30 pm
NSH 4201

Dennis Strelow On Monday to present my own work on omnidirectional shape-from-motion and omnidirectional camera calibration. There is an IROS paper and a CVPR paper.

These papers are not as heavy-duty as the ones we are used to reading, and they are light on math, so they should be fast & easy reads. The second paper (CVPR) is a more detailed version (with additional experimental results) of the calibration section of the IROS paper, so if you only have time to read one, read the IROS paper.

10/15/2001

Monday
12:30 pm
NSH 1507

Peng Chang I'll be discussing two tracking papers:

C. Rasmussen and G.D. Hager, Probabilistic data association methods for tracking complex visual objects, PAMI, V.23, No.6, 2001.   Paper.

K. Toyama and A. Blake, Probabilistic tracking in a metric space, ICCV 01.   Paper.

I will present the first one. The second paper is suggested by Dennis. You are encouraged to read both.
