Re: what does using rotation button do on test count in BS4-0-6

Steve,

To check rotation using the L&A test on the BallotStation 4, run the test, upload the results to GEMS and print a SOVC report. Then check that the number of votes assigned to each candidate, for each race/precinct, are in ascending order starting with the 'first' candidate of the rotation for the precinct.

Could you describe how you would use the rotation function to check rotation.  What reports do you print to verify that the rotation is correct?  Or is this on a precinct by precinct basis?  I'm not sure how to use it yet.

It does not reduce the number of ballots in the deck.  The reason one would do an L&A test using rotation would be to confirm the rotations are correct.  The reason for not using rotation would be to print an SOVC or Summary report and have to totals increasing by candidate.

Honest question:  why would one want to do that?  Does it reduce the number of ballots in the test?

If a L&A test is performed not using rotation then the votes are assigned using the 'base rotation' for the candidates rather than the ballot rotation.

what does using rotation button do on test count in BS4-0-6?  Since ballots are downloaded in the correct rotation - does this rotate them again?
