Re: Import VReg

Ok.  Then what is the VReg specification you want to follow for the import of these totals?  Can you publish it so I can get it to DIMS and DFM?

The current Standard Import only imports the total number of registered voters for a baseunit - it is not broken down by party.  The VReg import is used to import the final reg numbers and supports importing the reg totals by party - it can be run at any time. The StandardImport cannot be run after the database has been set for election.

I've been needing to get clear on this as well. I see in our standard import specification that Record Type 4 (VCenter/Reportunit/Baseunit (Polling/Precinct/Levy) includes Voter Reg numbers for the base unit. Since we run the initial import prior to registration closing using the ELECTION>IMPORT>STANDARD IMPORT option, I assume we use the ELECTION>IMPORT>IMPORT VReg option to import the final reg numbers.

Here is the question:  Does the County simply RE-RUN the same export file after registration close that we used for initial import and our program only selects the VREG data?   What do sites do that don't run an initial import for ballot layout, but want to import reg totals by baseunit?  Is there a seperate import spec for just that or do they have to follow the Standard Import Spec format?

Could someone tell me what format is required to import voter reg info into GEMS?
