strongly object to your remark about Global's incoming inspection. We
do have incoming inspection policy on purchased materials. The
policies for each part are based on engineering specifications and inspection
criteria that are supposed to be developed by our engineering department and/or
product managers. As we have virtually no written data on how we are
supposed to test the TS components, we have struggled for the testing criteria
from what we have culled from technical conversations with supposedly
knowledgeable people. If somebody has additional specifications that we
need to be testing to, then we will be more than glad to include
those qualifications in our incoming inspection. We would require
something, in writing, that alludes to a potential problem and indicates the
criterion that will prevent us from being a victim of that problem. I will
take this email as being such a device and will open an investigation into your
claim about the external Smart Card Readers Model 152. If there is any
existing documentation on this problem, it would be helpful to distribute
it to the appropriate people.
FYI: The problem that Jeff Hintz experienced was
trying to read a manager card that was programmed onto a 1KB smart card.
He had no problem reading a manager card programmed onto a 64KB smart
card. We have never distributed 1KB Manager Cards from this office because
we have never had, in writing, that it is safe to do so. As we have only
delivered 64KB Manager Cards to the field, no customer or support rep has any
need to worry about existing equipment or future shipments.
Accurate information on company policy can be found by
discussions with the management of this company.
