TV Shows

Series Title Years Ran Availability
Muppet Show 1976-1981 Childhood nostalgia :)
Fairy Tale Theatre 1982-1987 I have the complete collection in my library.
Fraggle Rock 1983-1988 The doozers were my favorite characters, and Uncle Travelling Matt, of course.
Star Trek 1966-1969 One of my earliest bonding activities with my dad -- Saturday evening reruns of this classic sci-fi show. I had little-girl crushes on all of the main characters alternatively but Mr. Spock was the most enduring. I even wrote a poem about the difficult love his human mother and Vulcan father must have shared. </geek> I have Seasons 1 and 2 in my library.
Star Trek: the Next Generation 1987-1994 I have season 1 of this series that I grew up with. In TV fights with my sisters, I always won with TNG because my mom thought of it as "educational TV." Lucky me! It taught me about idealism and social justice and how to dream and reach for the stars, literally and figuratively. NASA still seems like a dream job to me because of this show.
X Files, the 1993-2002 The truth is out there. Right? Right? Mulder and Scully kept me company many a Friday night in high school (yeah I was lame) and more than once they freaked me out or made me laugh or made me cry. I miss the good ol' days. I have Season 1 in my library.
My So-Called Life 1994 Angela was just like me -- except I never really got to rebel, or wear that much plaid. She was just my age going through the mid-teens just as I was. This show had a tragically short life -- scheduled opposite the newest hit Friends it never had a chance -- but it lives on in marathon nostalgia for high school, the time of discovery. I already own this boxed set.
Buffy: the Vampire Slayer 1997-2003 Buffy, probably my longest obsession. I grew up loving Star Trek but Buffy was my college years -- sophisticated, hip, witty, modern and oh-so-emotionally intense. Forget Dawson's Creek melodramatic inter-dating crap, I'll take Buffy and Angel's star-crossed love any day. I have Seasons 1-7 in my library.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force 2000-? My favorite of the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim (late night cartoons for wacky grown-ups who like cartoons), this cartoon follows the (mis)adventures of a trio of unlikely superheros from a happy meal: Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad. I have volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4 in my library.
Office, the 2001-2003 Hysterical British mockumentary about working in, well, an office. The characters are crazy funny and the situations are too painfully real not to be funny! I have both series in my library.
