Obwohl die letzte Zeit nicht gerade wenig stressig war, haben wir doch hin und wieder das Wetter genutzt und etwas unternommen. Einen Tag waren wir im Phipps und Christin hat fleissig Fotos gemacht. Dort gab es eine neue Ausstellung “Spring Flower Show”. Als Dekorationsthema ist Musik gewählt worden. Insgesamt sehr gelungen und vorallem nach dem Winter jetzt schön anzuschauen mit all den Blüten.

Even though the last month were quite stressful, we found time for a few trips. We were at the Phipps and Christin took quite some time to take photos from the “Spring Flower Show”. All the decoration was “Musik”-themed, which overall looked really nice. Especially, after the long, hard winter it was nice to see all the colorful flowers.

In einer Sendung über Pittsburgh auf WQED haben wir erfahren, dass es neben den Parks direkt in der Stadt auch noch zwei große etwas ausserhalb gibt. Zum South Park haben wir es dann auch schon mal hingeschafft. Die Dimensionen haben uns dann aber doch etwas erschlagen und so haben wir leider die dort lebenden Bisons nicht gefunden. Trotzdem haben wir einen langen und schönen Spaziergang dort gemacht. Im Juni macht dort einer der größten Wellenpools des Landes auf, den wollen wir uns auf jeden Fall dann mal anschauen. Ansonsten haben wir noch vom North Park erfahren. Dieser hat einen großen, künstlichen See. Bei Gelegenheit werden wir auch diesen erkunden.

Auf dem Rückweg waren wir im Hot Metal Diner essen. Das war überraschend gut und witziger Weise hing dort ein Foto vom Moderator der Sendung, die uns den Park empfohlen hatte.

At some point Christin and I stumbled across “It’s Pittsburgh and a lot of other stuff!” on WQED. One of the shows was about the North and the South Park. The verdict of the show was, that both are great and people tend to prefer the closer one. For us, however, both are about 20 minutes by car. Therefore, we decided to visit the south park first. The dimensions of the park are stunning and thus we didn’t see the Bisons. Still we had a great walk. We will certainly come back to explore the park further and visit the wave pool when it opens again in June.

On our way back, we stopped at the Hot Metal Diner to have lunch. Interstingly, there was a picture of the moderator on the wall, of the show that brought us to the park in the first place.

Heute waren wir mal wieder im Zoo. Zum Glück sind wir früh hingefahren. Das Wetter war super und daher wäre es später unerträglich voll gewesen. Das konnten wir auf dem Parkplatz beobachten, als wir gegen 13 Uhr wieder gefahren sind. Wir haben jede Menge Tiere gesehen und die frische Luft hat uns in gut getan. Im Moment scheint sich wieder einiges zu tun im Zoo. Es wird auf drei größeren Anlagen noch gebaut. Mal schauen, was da noch so hinkommt.

Today, we went to the Zoo. Fortunately, we went there early since when we left around 1pm everything was crowded as hell. Currently, there seems to be a lot going on in the Zoo. On at least three places there is construction work. We will check in a few weeks what’s happening there.
