GRADING

• Weekly homework -- worth 20% combined.
• Midterm 1 -- worth 20% or 25% (see note).
• Midterm 2 -- worth 20% or 25% (see note).
• Final -- worth 25%.
• Seven Quizzes -- worth 10% combined.
• Attendance Bonus -- add an extra 3% added to final grade -- proportionate to class attendance

• A = 90 - 100%
• B = 80 - 90%
• C = 70 - 80%
• D = 60 - 70%
• R = 0 - 60%

These are hard cutoffs. Do not expect a curve at the end. We will update you on your current anticipated grade in the class after each exam.

Note: You will have 2 midterms. Your lower midterm score will be weighted by 20%, while your higher midterm score will be weighted by 25%.

Attendance in the class will be monitored at random times. You can get a bonus of up to 3% added to your final grade if your attendance is high. Having an excuse for missing class does not help. Please try to attend as many classes as you can. This is the best way to learn.

There are no makeup quizes and no late homeworks accepted. Because life is unpredictable, we will drop your 1 lowest homework score and your 2 lowest quiz scores in determining your grade. Please save up these drops for when you get sick or need to travel. Do not send us email about misses.
