Where Devils Fear to Tread

Epilogue

Rakni's status

The extraplanars believe that Rakni's ability to make new breeds of spiders is severely limited now due to the loss of Dustplane energy. Rakni will probably be more conservative with her troops and unable to develop specialized spiders optimized for fighting certain enemies (e.g. sylvan creatures).

Plant Dude's wager

Plant Dude seems to have won the bet he made against Rakni and no longer seems excited about having the party "go make Rakni no is". He is quite puzzled at Rakni's continued existence but is pleased that he received the energy :-)

Doomed Suit elves

The Doomed Suit elves were released from the Dustplane. Over the centuries, their spirits have become strongly mingled with the orcish spirit pool. The orcish extraplanars are displeased at the notion of having grey elves in their spirit pool so it seems likely that they will get strained out, although they might not choose to return to the Forest.
Silvana's new theory about the original purpose of the Doomed Suit mission is as follows:
The modern yochlol were probably originally formed from cuttings of Plant Dude that the evil elves brought to the Underdark. The elves saw that it would be advantageous to destroy the cuttings and thus deprive the drow of access to plant power. Evil groups in the Underdark (including the illithids) believed that destroying the proto-yochlol would keep the drow from becoming powerful in the Underdark. Without "a taproot", the drow would have lost ties to their deities and probably become F/MU mercenaries for other evil groups. After the Doomed Suit elves destroyed the cuttings and had served the illithids' purpose, they disposed of them with orange gas; however their action was premature, because the drow had managed to hide enough of the cuttings to regrow the yochlol.

Animal spirits on the Dustplane

The Beastlands are pleased at the return of many animal spirits to the Prime spirit pools. Many of the spirits taken from the Prime were underwater creatures that the spiders were trapping with huge webs and funnelling into Dustplane. These creatures provided energy for the spiders and there was little risk that they could contribute to the breaking of the plane, due to their lack of hands (as we saw, many of the portals in the Dustplane required button pressing or dial turning). Some of Frankel's Beastlands sponsors were actually underwater spiritfolk, rather than sylvan ones.

Other sponsors (or lack thereof)

The ki-rin are proud that Beeel, newly inaugurated questee of the Wind Temple, led the mission. Thanks to his Lawful Good actions, they seem to have benefited financially from the party's mission. G's Whitemoon sponsors wish to remain anonymous to protect themselves from any punitive actions by Lawfuls. Thor has successfully escaped Plant Dude's clutches and ascended to Rillifane's side where he is making a substantial contribution of hit points, strength and constitution to the spirit pool :-) Though initially surprised by Yves's return, the Consortium seems to have integrated him into their future plans. Frankel's Beastlands sponsors are pleased with his efforts on the behalf of animal spirits everywhere.

Return of other souls from Dustplane

The Shade Lord, Epicenter, and Rogthermal were all present on Dustplane when it blew up. Rogthermal will probably be returning to the Prime to aid the Western war effort. Some of the faces of Dustplane have now become separate (non-shadowed) demiplanes; presumably the Shade Lord is in possession of one of those demiplanes. Silvana believes that the whilgs will sponsor Epicenter by giving him a demiplane and encouraging him to oppose the Shade Lord. Among the lesser souls sifted from the wreckage were Anachron and Don the Sandwich Man :-)

Tiger Monks

The original Tiger Monk sponsor has not been disclosed. The Tiger Monks are now going to be sponsored by Whitemoon.

The Consortium

The Consortium is extremely unhappy about the party's early reemergence back on the Prime and displeased at the Chaos energy that remains stored in G. Whitemoon is pleased that the party has won this short-term victory over Lawful Evil. Unfortunately the devils are the masters of "plans within plans" so the party should beware continuing complications...
