Auramkil's new ruler, Queen Henazeen, is generally believed to be Good (releasing a number of long-time political prisoners certainly doesn't hurt this image), though Ylena also noted that she's inconsistent. Henazeen comes from a merchant background and is hoping to attract new merchants and businesses and make Auramkil a strong economic center. (Auramkil's location makes it an obvious port for trade between the northern and southern continents, and with Silverton rapidly becoming an extraplanar battleground, there's currently no real competition in this area of the continent. On the down side, the West and the frontier lands north of the city probably aren't very interested in trade -- though this could change when the West sets about establishing its "Nation of Good".) Her power base isn't fully consolidated; in particular, she faces opposition from the old bureaucracy, which isn't happy about her recent tax cuts and easing of trade restrictions.
There is a movement underway to persuade the Queen to make elves second-class citizens in Auramkil (largely because of trouble the Shorin have been causing lately), but she's hesitant to move before her power base is secure. And there's a good chance she won't make this move anyway, since there's a "strong pro-elven lobby operating beneath the surface" in Auramkil.
Tiyolar, a cloak-maker who does business with the Auramkil nobles, is generally tuned in to the current political climate and was recommended by Ylena as a contact in the city.
