NEW DELHI, May 26 (AFP) - The United States said Wednesday it was concerned by Indian air strikes on Pakistan-backed Moslem militants in the Himalayan state of Kashmir. But US ambassador Richard F. Celeste ruled out intervention by Washington in new clashes, which some feel has the potential to escalate into an India-Pakistan conflict. "No way, there is no question of this," the Press Trust of India (PTI) quoted Celeste as saying after meeting Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes. The envoy said the United States was concerned by developments, and hoped the situation would be "contained and resolved quickly." The Indian air force on Wednesday bombed for the first time Moslem separatists holed up in the hills along Kashmir's border with Pakistan in a bid to flush them out. India also warned Pakistan any intervening in the military action. India and Pakistan dispute the ownership of Moslem-majority Kashmir and have fought two of their three wars during the past five decades over the picturesque province.
