LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz broke one NBA playoff record and tied another Thursday night, combining for just 25 points in the first quarter and 63 in the entire first half. The previous record for fewest first-quarter points was 26, set by Detroit and Boston in 1988. The 63 combined points tied the first-half record set last week by Orlando and Philadelphia in Game 2 of their first-round series. Portland, shooting 5-of-22 from the field, led Utah 14-11 at the end of the first quarter. Utah was 4-of-17 from the field and made seven turnovers, three by Howard Eisley. The Blazers were up 32-31 at the half. Karl Malone and Brian Grant had 13 points apiece to lead their respective teams. Portland set an NBA record Monday night in Game 1 for fewest points in any quarter when they managed just five in the fourth quarter of their 93-83 Game 1 loss to the Jazz. -=-=-
