May 20 (UPI) -- Top seed Lindsay Davenport led a trio of Americans into the semifinals Thursday at the Yellow Pages Open. Competing in her first event in over a month due to a wrist injury, Davenport stormed past ninth seed Anna Smashnova of Israel, 6-1, 6-3, to reach her third semifinal in only seven events this year. Americans Chanda Rubin and Amy Frazier also secured semifinal berths. Rubin, the fourth seed, crushed Switzerland's Emmanuelle Gagliardi, 6-0, 6-2, and Frazier, the seventh seed, held off fifth seed Silvia Farina of Italy, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-4, to set up a meeting with Davenport on Friday. Rubin's semifinal opponent on Friday will be Argentine qualifier Paola Suarez, who posted her second straight upset by eliminating sixth seed Magui Serna of Spain, 6-4, 6-2. Suarez, ranked No. 109 in the world, knocked off second seed Patty Schnyder on Wednesday. Seeded second at next week's French Open, Davenport is competing in her first event since a third-round loss to Anna Kournikova at the Bausch & Lomb Championships at Amelia Island, Fla. She claimed her only title of the year in January at Sydney. --=-=--
