France, May 22 (AFP) - Former Olympic champion Jennifer Capriati won the 190,000-dollar WTA tournament here on Sunday following her 6-1, 6-3 victory over second seeded Elena Likhovtseva of Russia. The 23-year-old American, currently just 113th in the world following an interruption to her career because of personal problems, earned her first tournament win since Sydney in 1993. "It's not the first stage of my comeback, but it's a further step forward and there have been a lot of those these last few years," former world number six Capriati said. "Now the results are beginning to come." Capriati's high-point in her career was a victory over Steffi Graf of Germany in the Barcelona Olympic final in 1992. Capriati did well in windy and cold whether to capture her 59th-minute win. "To win here is great for the confidence. I'm going to go to Roland Garros knowing I can really win some matches. But I don't want to be too ambitious and I can't say I'm going there to win it," Capriati added. Likhovtseva said she felt tired after a singles and a doubles match on Friday. "I didn't start well and never found a way to unsettle her," Likhovtseva said. Capriati is set to jump up into the top 60 with this win. --=-=--
