May 22 (AFP) - America's top seed Lindsay Davenport ran out an easy winner of the 180,000-dollar Madrid WTA event here on Saturday after beating Argentina's Paola Suarez 6-1, 6-3. The 53-minute win boosted Davenport just two days before the French Open, the second leg of the Grand Slam, begins. Davenport, ranked second in the world, was in a different class to her 109th ranked opponent. "I have played some of my best tennis today," Davenport said. "It was a great win for me especially after having not played for a long time because of my wrist. "It is my second title of the year and first on clay which is great because it gives me a lot of confidence going into Roland Garros." Davenport was 5-0 up after 14 minutes play in the first set and 4-0 up in the second set with accurate and powerful shots fired all round the court. Suarez, 22, had already had her moments of glory, beating Switzerland's second seed Patty Schnyder and American Chanda Rubin, seeded four. --=-=--
