FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Miami Dolphins tackle Shane Burton was charged with drunken driving after going the wrong way down a state highway, police said. Burton, 25, was driving his Lexus east in the westbound lanes of State Road 84 around 6:30 a.m. on May 9, according to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report. The car's emergency flashers were on. Burton's blood alcohol level was .106, according to the report. The legal limit in Florida is .08. Trooper Lisa Drake wrote in her arrest report that Burton reeked of alcohol, his eyes were bloodshot and he slurred his speech. When asked to do five voluntary sobriety exercises, Burton did them, but failed. Two men and two women were in the car with Burton. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Burton played in 15 games last year, finishing with 23 tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery. He was drafted by the Dolphins in the fifth round in 1996 out of Tennessee. In 1995, Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer suspended Burton indefinitely after he was arrested for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Dolphins officials could not be reached for comment Monday night. -=-=-
