PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Suns today sent their first round pick in the 1999 draft to the Chicago Bulls to complete the trade in which they acquired center Luc Longley. The Suns, who were swept by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs, dealt Mark Bryant, Martin Muursepp and Bubba Wells to the Bulls on January 23. Longley, who was a member of three championship teams in Chicago, averaged 8.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in 39 games for Phoenix this season. The Suns still own the ninth overall pick in next month's draft by virtue of a trade with Dallas on June 24, 1998, when they acquired forward Pat Garrity, Muursepp and Wells in exchange for guard Steve Nash.
