BELGRADE, May 21 (AFP) - NATO air raids on Serbia overnight killed one civilian and injured several more, and damaged another friendly diplomatic mission, Tanjug news agency reported Friday. Nikola Hinic, whose age was not given, was killed when two bombs fell on Vuka Karadzica Street one kilometre (1,100 yards) from the centre of Sombor, destroying the homes of the Hinic and Knezevic familes, Tanjug said. An unspecified number of injured were hospitalised. Tanjug said. The agency reported a series of very loud blasts just before midnight (2200 GMT Thursday) at Sombor, 200 kilometres (125 miles) northwest of Belgrade. Tanjug said a fuel depot of the Naftagas company was targetted in an industrial area south of the town and a fire started. The blaze was brought under control a few hours later. Two very loud explosions were also heard just after midnight on the outskirts of Belgrade. The blasts, between 00:05 a.m. and 00:08 a.m. Friday, lit up the sky in the south or southwest of the city. The explosions followed the sound of large aircraft flying over Belgrade, accompanied by heavy anti-aircraft fire. Tanjug said targets in the Lipovica forest some ten kilometres southwest of the capital had been hit. Three explosions were heard in Belgrade around 8:20 p.m. Thursday (1820 GMT). Tanjug said a fuel depot of the Jugopetrol company was hit and a fire started, which was brought under control shortly after midnight. The same attack damaged the nearby residence of the Swiss ambassador to Yugoslavia, blowing in all the windows of the building during a reception to mark Switzerland's national day, Tanjug said. No one was hurt, the report said. If confirmed, it was the fourth such incident in 24 hours involving a European diplomatic mission. In Wednesday night's raids NATO bombs damaged the Swedish embassy and the residences of the Norwegian and Spanish ambassadors, officials of the three countries said. No one was reported hurt in the incidents. Warplanes from both Norway and Spain are taking part in the NATO strikes. Sweden and Switzerland are not NATO members. On May 7, in the most serious incident of its kind so far, NATO missiles hit the Chinese embassy, killing three Chinese citizens and injuring 20 and sparking a major diplomatic incident. The damage to the Swedish embassy brought apologies to Stockholm from both the United States and Britain.
