SINGAPORE, May 21 (AFP) - The US dollar ended lower Friday against the yen and euro in Singapore trade, dealers said. The dollar opened trading here at 124.06 yen but dropped at the close to 123.85. The euro started trade at 1.0588 dollars and ended at a high note at 1.0595, acording to rates from Banque Nationale de Paris. "The euro failed to go higher on rumours of a peace resolution in Kosovo and rumours on the death of (Yugoslav President Slobodan) Milosevic. It fell to a 1.0580 low," a dealer with the French bank said. The dollar yen was capped by option selling and unwinding of positions by exporters and supported by investor buying interest at 123.50, he said. The British pound finished higher here at 1.6067 US dollars, from its opening of 1.6058 dollars. Against key Southeast Asian currencies, the dollar ended lower at 1.7198 Singapore dollars from its Thursday close of 1.7233, 37.00 Thai baht from 37.13 and 8,045 Indonesian rupiah from 8,130.
