NEW YORK, May 21 (AFP) - The US dollar soared to a record high against the euro here Friday, while it kept on an even keel with the yen. At 3:45 p.m. (1945 GMT) the greenback was trading at 124.03 yen, against 124.29 yen late Thursday, maintaing its level above 124 yen despite Thursday's Federal Reserve warning about future tightening of credit in the United States to ward off inflation, and the still-struggling Japanese economy. The euro traded at 1.0576 dollars against 1.0622 on Thursday. The fall of the european currency was mitigated by a German report forecasting a more flexible monetary policy in Europe. The dollar was also trading at 1.5164 Swiss francs against 1.5080 on Thursday, and at 1.6008 pounds against 1.6075 a day earlier.
