Kyungja is a Korean first name, mostly for females. Reminiscent of the famous counterfeit scandal of Kyung-ja Chun, a Korean painter who drew many women portraits decorated by flowers, the question of who decides an artwork be original and valuable still remains.
Mi-In-Do scandal: Mi-In-Do is a portrait of a woman wearing flowers on her head similar to many others of Chun’s paintings. Chun stated that the Mi-In-Do that was exhibited at the national museum is not her work but the major players in the Korean modern art field of the early 1990s called her “an old and senile woman” who can not recognize her own work. The legal battle on this issue is unresolved.
