"My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness."

(well, if I have to be technically correct, the Dalai Lama said
this first)
And here you'll see... well - ME!
All sorts of pictures - funny, good, bad, ridiculous... Enjoy!

This is me in my most natural state. Halloween party @ John's house (2001).

And here I am demonstrating my amazing strength by lifting a piece of
concrete from near a dock at the Bulgarian Black Sea (summer 2001). Did I say
"lifting"? More like "pulling on". But we won't go into
details...

Me sticking out my tongue at... you. Sewanee, the French House. Berenice,
Irene, Rayid, and Myako are somewhere behind the camera. This was on Easter my
junior year, so it must have been spring 1999. We cooked a big dinner and then
colored eggs. So, wait, it must have been before Easter, right? Well, you get
the point. You see any resemblance to the witch picture? I guess we can
draw the conclusion that I like making funny gestures and faces at the camera.

And here are the eggs I mentioned above. Aren't they pretty? Awwww... I look
"tired but happy" as the saying goes. And I am! This is inside the
French House, the same night as above. I think Rayid is the photographer.

Here I am explaining something to Fahd. I think I am explaining why he should
not take this picture. Oh - too late! This is in Dr. Smith's office, and I am
sitting in his chair. Smith is one of the greatest people I knew in Sewanee,
and, come to think of it, anywhere at all. I admire him for so many things - for
knowing how to treat each and every person, for his profound kindness and trust,
for the huge number of things he knows and can talk about for hours, for the way
he brings up his grandkids, for the way he teaches, for the way he does what he
loves. I spent so many hours in his office (with him almost never being there),
that I really thought of it as *my* office. I would say "let's meet at
Smith's" or, "leave me a message on Smith's door if I am not
there". But I was almost always there. I worked there, I played there, I
watched movies. He has a fridge and a microwave at the back of the office. Also,
he always keeps food and drinks at the back, as well. He has a couch. Really, he
could have had a shower, and I wouldn't have needed a dorm room. His office is
where I kept my books, that's where I dropped off my backpack after classes and
before lunch, that's where I pulled allnighters. I miss him and I wish I had
gotten to talk to him more during my time in Sewanee.

This picture was taken by Fahd at one of the Potluck Dinners in Convocation
Hall. I think it was during my senior year (1999/2000).

Surprise - me again! Slouching at a table outside and trying to swallow
before I erupt in laughter. This was an improvised dinner with Fahd and Mahvash
outside Cannon Dorm (if I remember correctly) in Sewanee, some time my senior
year, so must have been fall 1999. They cooked and we all ate (as in, I think I
didn't cook - that time). Well, I told you I'd put some funny pictures, didn't
I?

This is cheesebread in my hands - a delicious Brazilian specialty, which,
unfortunately, is really hard to get outside Brazil. And, as you can see - you
can have all sorts of fun with it - who said "don't play with your
food"? We baked the bread in my old apartment on Stanton Ave, Pittsburgh, first or second semester at CMU (can't
remember exactly), so sometime 2000/2001.

My 'professional' CALD picture which hangs outside Diane's office. Well, it
could have been worse :-) Taken at some point during my first semester at CMU,
so it must have been Fall 2001.
"Kindness is tenderness. Kindness is love, but perhaps greater than
love...Kindness is good will. Kindness says, "I want you to be happy."
