PHOTOFANTASTIC WORKSHOP
Instructor: Tom Schmidt, University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac Continuing Education ad hoc Photography Instructor
This fun filled workshop is designed for the inquisitive young
photographer. It is designed to heighten your visual awareness through
the medium of photography. The basic workings of the 35mm camera will
be explained and demonstrated. Field trips around the campus will allow
you to photograph a variety of subjects including wildlife, landscapes,
flowers and people. You will then learn to print your own black and
white images in the darkroom. This is truly a hands-on experience that
wraps up with a student art exhibit on Friday. You are expected to have
a working 35mm Single Reflex Camera. Bring 2 rolls of Kodak black and
white film (35mm - 24 exposure) on the first day of class.
MED SCHOOL FOR KIDS
Instructors: Dr. Derrick Colmenares, Dr. Barb Franck, Dr. Tom Fabricius, Dr. Gary Steele, and Dr. Dave Maruska.
So, you think you want to be a doctor? Here’s your chance to
find out what it’s all about from five Fond du Lac Regional Clinic
family docs. Put casts on, see real x-rays, look at your own blood
cells under a microscope, and perform ‘virtual surgery’. You’ll stitch
up lacerations, handle a real (pig’s) heart and lungs, practice walking
with crutches, and listen to each other with real stethoscopes! Because
of the “hands-on” nature of this class, enrollment will be limited to
twelve, so sign up right away!
GEOMETRY & TRIGONOMETRY BROUGHT TO YOUR LEVEL
Instructor: Ken Loest, University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac ad hoc Math Instructor and Fond du Lac High School Math Instructor
Geometry and Trigonometry. No, they are not tall plants in a
forest; however, they are two main branches of mathematics. We will use
the latest in advanced calculators to get to the root of mathematics
problems. Don’t be a sap! Come bark out your answers as we explore the
wonderful challenges that only mathematics can provide. Leaf your
troubles at home and get lost in the intrigue of the world of numbers.
Motivation and skills in mathematics are pre-requisites.
GIZMOS & GADGETS
Instructor: Becky Palmer, Science Instructor, Campbellsport School District
You will have a blast investigating the hows and whys of
motion, friction, gravity, energy, balance, and simple machines by
constructing awesome working contraptions. Find out how parachutes,
catapults, hovercraft, and whirligigs work. You’ll also get a chance to
invent your own Rube Goldberg type contraption.
CHEMISTRY IS EVERYWHERE!
Instructor: Stephanie Ballard, Science Instructor, Campbellsport School District
Chemistry is literally everywhere! From the food we eat to the
TV you watch at night, nothing would be possible without chemistry. In
this hands-on class, you will learn about the nature of solids,
liquids, and gases, and how you can control the reactions involving
these states of matter. Then, you will use your knowledge to perform
tests to find out what kinds of juice have the most vitamin C and which
cereals and soda have the most sugar (your parents will love that!).
Finally, you will investigate electricity and learn the chemistry and
science behind what powers our world.

This class is for you! You will be given a list of things you need to
find on the Internet related to one topic. Once all of the items are
found, you will need to collect them and use PAINT to “draw” the main

risks and take chances. Each day you will have lots of time to play
other students and even the instructor, but never (ab)alone. We will
