Here's a little piece of information which I found particularly interesting. Per HCOB 10 NOV 1981, OT III AND OT III ATTEST, the Pre-OT on OT III is to audit "as long as he wishes." But as soon as he slacks off, or if he appears to be going on too long for the supervisor's taste (what Hubbard calls "endless OT III"), then the C/S is to terminate OT III by finding a win and telling the pre-OT he's reached the EP. Why? Because the real work to be done in handling the body thetans will be done on New OT V (New Era Dianetics for OTs). So "tell him that's it and shunt him over to Audited NOTs." Which means OT III is obsolete, right? Well, almost. LRH does recommend the use of Incident I and Incident II handling even on NOTs, but it's not the primary handling for body thetans and probably is rarely used. Why have the Pre-OT do OT III at all? My advice to the Pre-OT is to audit as much as he/she can stand because it'll save a few expensive hours on audited NOTs. The goofy space opera background given for OT III (Xenu, volcanoes, etc.) could be eliminated altogether and no one would really notice the difference. In fact, it would actually mean a small boost in income for the Church of Scientology as they could get a few more hours of audited NOTs out of the Pre-OT. I know, a few have come to know and love the OT III materials, but I'm talking about the greater good. After all, wouldn't Church staff be happier if the next time a joker makes a comment about Xenu they could say that Xenu has absolutely no place within Scientology? -- Anonymous
