Support

The LICS organizers are pleased to acknowledge the generous support of Google, Microsoft Research,
CMU Computer Science Department, CMU School of Computer Science, CMU Philosophy Department, Cylab, and the Association for Symbolic Logic.

News

THURSDAY ONLY: today the LICS lunch is in Rangos again, but you must enter the University Center through the entrance near the football field, in order to pass through metal detectors. This is because of increased security associated with a political event in the same building. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Google is offering a tour of its research lab, located in the Collaborative Innovation Center, 4720 Forbes Avenue, on the edge of the CMU campus. This tour is designed for students interested in the research and job opportunities at Google. The tour will be from 5:30 to 6:30 on Thursday June 26. A sign-up sheet will be available in Giant Eagle lobby until 4pm on Thursday. And you can exploit Google technology by signing up online at this link.

Registration

Online registration is no longer available, since the deadlines have passed. Special arrangements must be made prior to the conference by email to the conference organizers, for on-site registration. If you have registered, but not yet paid, please contact the conference services staff to arrange payment before the conference. • Recreation passes covering the university facilities are available via registration for $17.25.
  • Campus parking permits for the East Campus Garage are available for $11 per day, payable with registration.

General Information

The School of Computer Science webpage Especially for Visitors is a source for information about Pittsburgh and about CMU, with links for transportation, local attractions, and local restaurants. General information about Pittsburgh can be found at the Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau.
NEW: here are two lists of local restaurants. The first is limited to Oakland, while the second also includes Shadyside.

Weather

Summer temperatures in Pittsburgh tend to be high -- in the 80's and 90's during daytime, dropping into the 70's at night. Humidity is also usually high, and there may be heavy rain showers and thunderstorms.
You can find more details at this site. The zipcode for campus is 15213.

Getting to Pittsburgh

The closest airport is Pittsburgh International Airport. To get to CMU or the hotels from the airport, there are several options for ground transportation, including taxi, limousine or shuttle, and bus. These all depart from just outside the baggage claim area. The 28X Airport Flyer bus stops on the corner of Forbes and Morewood, right next to campus, which would be convenient for those staying in a dorm room. Check the airport website or for details.
Car rental desks are located next to the baggage claim area at the airport.

Carnegie Mellon University is in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh. The neighborhood includes museums and libraries, and is adjacent to Schenley Park. Nearby on South Craig Street are several cafes, restaurants, and shops. Fifth Avenue and Forbes Avenue also offer a number of stores and restaurants within walking distance of hotels and campus. Slightly further away, accessible by a longer walk or a short cab ride, the Shadyside neighborhood has many up-scale restaurants and boutique shops.
