Engineers shall not solicit or accept financial or other valuable consideration directly or indirectly, from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with work for employers or clients for which they are responsible.

II.4.c. Part 1

Code is relevant when:
Engineer has an employer
AND
Engineer is responsible for engineering work with the employer
Code is violated when:
Engineer solicits valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work
OR
Engineer accepts valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work
Code is not violated when:
Engineer does not solicit valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work
AND
Engineer does not accept valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work

Code is relevant when:
Engineer has a client
AND
Engineer is responsible for engineering work with the client
Code is violated when:
Engineer solicits valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work
OR
Engineer accepts valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work
Code is not violated when:
Engineer does not solicit valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work
AND
Engineer does not accept valuable consideration from contractors, their agents, or other parties in connection with the engineering work
