PDF of Slides for Guest Lecture

Prof. Myers away
Guest lecture: Prof. Jodi Forlizzi

In today's lecture, we will review principles of communication design that are relevant to the design of web sites: typography, color, design systems and grids, and how to best design for your audience.

Assignment:

In order to look at these principles in practice, we will critique some web sites from a design viewpoint. Each student is requested to identify two URLs: one for a web site they like, and one for a web site they dislike. We will critique these sites during the last part of the lecture.

Send your web sites to: gusp@cmu.edu
