I am interested in understanding and computational modeling of natural languages. Towards this goal, I develop formal analyses of natural linguistic phenomena such as agreement, and definiteness, and build statistical models of these phenomena. The formal analyses as well as computational models can provide feedback to each other in developing a better understanding and models. Additionally, I am interested in cross-linguistic comparisons of these phenomena as they add further insights into the nature of human language.

Since June 2012, I have been a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Language Technologies Institute, at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining CMU, I worked at the University of Colorado Boulder with Martha Palmer. I completed my PhD in Linguistics with a specialization in Syntax in 2011 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the guidance of Elabbas Benmamoun. I majored in Mathematics for my undergraduate studies at the University of Delhi.
