| After years "thinking about it," I started my private pilot training in
February 1999. Most of the training has been in the Pittsburgh Flight Training
Center, in Allegheny County Airport (AGC), Pittsburgh. Seaplane training was
provided by Northwood Aviation in Cadillac,
Michigan. Only satisfaction came from interacting with both schools; I do
recommend them.
A timeline with progress follows.
 | Started training, February 15, 1999 |
 | First solo (after 17 hr), March 20, 1999 |
 | Private Pilot Single Engine Land (after 51 hr), May 15. 1999 |
 | Private Pilot Single Engine Sea (after
8 hr), August 11, 1999 |
 | Instrument Rated Pilot (after 42 hr inst training), September 26,
1999 |

The current pursue is to accumulate ~230 hours and start commercial training
and later become instructor. My logbook indicates ~160 in January 2000
—still several hours to go.
