  • BMW wins BVRLA Security Award (2/16/00)

    • The British Vehicle Renting and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has named the BMW 5 Series as the winner of the executive and luxury category in its prestigious annual security awards.

The BVRLA first made its security awards 13 years ago in response to the rising tide of car-related crime. Since then manufacturers have invested a great deal of time and money into transforming vehicle security - and BMW has always been amongst the leaders in this field, winning numerous awards in the process.

Freddie Aldous, president of the BVRLA and chairman of the judging panel commented, "Once again the judges were very impressed by BMW's ongoing commitment to vehicle security. There is no hint of complacency in the BMW camp, despite the fact that it has won this category for the third consecutive year. The competition in this sector is becoming fiercer every year, but BMW continues to break new ground and take vehicle security to unprecedented levels."

The line-up of judges included senior representation from Thatcham and the ABI (Association of British Insurers), the head of the Metropolitan Police Stolen Vehicle Squad and the AA. Accepting the award for BMW, Product Support Manager Steve Nicolson said, "We are delighted to receive this award again in 2000. It reflects our total commitment to protecting our customers' cars from unwelcome attention and our dedication to keep one step ahead of the criminal fraternity".
