Software Engineer
DSP group, Hughes Software Systems, Gurgaon, India
June 2000 - Aug 2001

Project: Personal Earth Station (PES)

The aim of the project was to develop complete embedded software solution for voice/fax communication
for the PES
system. In this project, I was involved in complete software life cycle development including specifications, design document, coding, application interface with higher layers and testing. As a member of the DSP group, I worked on development of multi-channel Group 3 Fax modems (ITU-T recommendations V.21, V.24, V.27) on TMS320549 processor. Significant contributions includes
  • Design of ITU-T Recommendation V.29, V.21, V.27 transmitter and receiver in Matlab.
  • Development of fixed-point (in Q15 format) C code for V.29, V.27, V.21 multi-channel transmitter and receiver.
  • Development of a new scheme to combine up-sampling, down-sampling, filtering and base-band to pass-band conversion to reduce the execution time of the code.
  • Porting of C code in assembly for TMS320C54x using Code Composer environment.
  • Optimization of assembly language code by utilizing the features of TMS320C54x
  • Integration of embedded fax solution into the Voice/Fax Daughter Card.
  • Lab Testing using Telegra fax analyzer and fax machines.

Hughes Network Systems, MD, USA
Feb 2001 - May 2001

Assisted in field-testing of the PES solution at HNS facility at MD, USA. The testing setup consist of a CISCO hub at the one end and the PES system at the other end. Two way voice/fax capability was tested.
