Professional and Research Experience

• B.Tech. Dissertation at IIT (July 2003 - May 2004) Developed and implemented a number of efficient decomposition techniques with a tradeoff in number of quantification and composition operations and worked on techniques to do verification using the decomposed state space. Also developed and implemented an efficient recursive vector compose algorithm for BDDs.
  
  
• Summer Intern at Dortmund University (May-July 2003) Adapted a game-based model checker to generation of high level views of processes to be used for data flow analysis of Java programs. Studied model checking for context free systems and worked on finding compositional winning strategies for context free processes.
  
  
• B.Tech. Seminar at IIT (Dec 2002 - April 2003) Studied various encodings(CNF, RBC, BDD, polynomials) used for symbolic model checking, did a complexity analysis of each encoding at various stages of model checking and proposed which encoding is better for what initial graph structures.
  
  
• Summer Project at IIT (May-June 2002) Aim was to find the optimal travel plans in situations where the arrival times are not fixed but randomly distributed. I found errors in results due to the approximation of Poisson random variable when applied to a general arrival distribution.
  
  
• Course Management System at IIT Bombay (Jul-Dec 2002) Provided a common web based interface between instructors, students and teaching assistants in an institute for doing mundane tasks such as giving and submitting assignments, assigning projects and demo scheduling, course information, notices, grading and messages. Implementation using servlets, JDBC, SQL and Java.
  
  
• 4 Bit CPU (Jul-Dec 2002) We designed and implemented a 4 bit CPU with microprogrammed control logic. The core of the implementation was Am2901 chip.
  
  
• Optimization of Room Acoustics (Jul-Dec 2001) Conceptualized and developed a package to simulate and optimize the acoustic behaviour of a closed room with windows and doors under the presence of multiple point sound sources. Implemented in Java with a GUI interface.
  
  
• Text-based web browser - modifications (Jul-Dec 2001) Understood code of W3M-web browser and added log features based on frequency and times of visits, implemented interpretation of new tags like <blink> which were previously ignored by w3m and added a clock.

Awards and Honors

• Won first place at the 28th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Regionals, Oct. 2003 held at Roorkee-Kolkatta site to qualify for the world finals. Participated in the prestigious ACM-ICPC World Finals held in Prague, Czech Republic (March 2004).
• Won first place at 27th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Regionals, Dec. 2002 held at IIT Kanpur to qualify for the World Finals. Participated in the prestigious ACM-ICPC world finals at Beverly Hills, California (March 2003) and won award for our performance there. (part of the only Indian team to be there)
• Awarded Institute Academic award-2001 for academic excellence in IIT Bombay after first academic year. (10 awards out of 500 students)
• All India Rank 7 in Joint Entrance Examination for IIT,2000 (out of more than 200000 candidates)
• National Talent Search Scholar, 1998.
• State Science Talent Search Scholar, 1998.
• Won first place at IIT Bombay Open Programming Contest for consecutive years, 2002-03.
