See friends in Gilbert & Sullivan's "Patience" March 5-21

The reviews are in, and they’re great!  Rib-splitting” says the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; “hugely entertaining” says Pittsburgh CityPaper.

Many of you have expressed past interest (sometimes too late) in these productions, so here's a reminder:

The Pittsburgh Savoyards’ October production of H.M.S. Pinafore won Honorable Mention for Pittsburgh’s best theatrical performance of 2003 ("splendid" raved the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; "amazing", said Pittsburgh CityPaper).

If you liked or missed that show, you'll enjoy Gilbert & Sullivan's hilarious 1881 operetta Patience. The subject -- men who are full of themselves, and the ladies they try to impress -- remains fresh today.

What: a sparkling sendup of pretentious poets, complete with spectacular singing, daffy dancing, outstanding orchestra, splendid set, colorful costumes, and lots of laughs.

ECE Assistant Business Manager for Grants Management Meighan Lloyd as Lady Jane

Robotics Research Professor Jack Mostow as the Duke

LTI Research Programmer David Svoboda as the Major

LTI Research Assistant Nils Hammer, EE alumnus Robert Packard, and non-CMUer physician Myles Zuckerman as Dragoon Guards

When:  March 5-21 (8pm Fridays, 8pm Saturdays, 2:30pm Sundays).

WQED’s March 9 news program OnQ Magazine gave an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Patience and the Pittsburgh Savoyards, including the talented real-life husband-and-wife pediatric physicians Tom Porter and Melinda Fritz who play the lead roles.
