As director of partnerships in the School of Computer Science, George develops relationships and strategies with corporate and government partner organizations. He spent much of 2016 building the community necessary for the new Manufacturing USA Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute, which was formally awarded to Carnegie Mellon in January 2017. Before joining CMU in 2014, he held several positions at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory, including engineer, contract officers representative, strategic outreach and technology transfer. He also served as business development manager at the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development, and consumer and business bank manager at PNC Bank and AmSouth Bancorporation (now Regions).
George earned a bachelor of science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996, after which he joined the United States Air Force. He served as a computer and communications officer until 2002, separating honorably as a captain, and received an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business in 2009.
In his spare time, George enjoys running, cooking and spending time with his wife and two children.
