SCS Community to Showcase Its Talents At SCS Day Celebration Saturday, Feb 8

PITTSBURGH-Join your friends from the School of Computer Science at the University Center, from 4-11 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, as they celebrate SCS Day. The event will feature multi-talented SCS students, staff and faculty who will show and share their expertise in music, dance, juggling, art, gaming and other forms of entertainment.

The day will include a series of workshops, an art exhibition, a chess competition and a talent show, with SCS Dean James H. Morris as master of ceremonies.

Registration for the workshops runs from 11am - 5pm, Feb. 5 through Feb 7 at a booth located in the fifth floor lobby of Wean Hall across from the La Prima coffee bar.

SCS Day coordinators include undergraduate student Jennifer Li, and graduate student Ariadna Font Llitjos. The workshop coordinator is undergraduate Ramya Ananthanarayanan. The talent show coordinator is undegraduate Agata Bugaj. Financial coordinators are SCS assistant Dean Catherine Copetas and graduate student Bernardine Dias. Debra Tobin, art director for the Robotics Institute, is coordinating the art exhibition and event publicity. The SCS Day website master is SCS undergraduate Nancy Chen.Font Llitjos, said the idea for SCS Day came out of a joint meeting of graduate and undergraduate members of Women@SCS a mentoring and support group for women in computer science.

Sponsors of the event include the Carnegie Mellon Art Store, University Printing, the Climbing Wall, Internet Chess Club, Kiva Han, Lucent Technologies, Lockheed Martin Corp., School of Computer Science Alumni Relations and Women @ SCS.
