Deep Learning Perception for Autonomous Driving

Join us for an NVIDIA Talk! Learn how the AI-Infrastructure team is scaling-up deep learning perception for Autonomous Driving. The team's research focuses on the efficiency of deep learning methods from a data and DNN perspective.

  • Jose M. Alvarez, Senior Research Manager & Principal Scientist
  • Maying Shen (CMU '19), Deep Learning Infrastructure Software Engineer
  • Xinnan Du (CUM '20), Deep Learning Software Intern - Summer 2020

Jose M. Alvarez is a Senior Research Manager / Principal Scientist at NVIDIA working on scaling-up deep learning perception for Autonomous Driving. The team's research focuses on the efficiency of deep learning methods from a data and DNN perspective. Previously, he was a Senior Research Scientist at Toyota Research Institute and a Senior Scientist at Data61/CSIRO (formerly NICTA), Australia, working on deep learning for large scale dynamic scene understanding. Dr. Alvarez also did research at the University of Amsterdam, the Electronics Research Group at Volkswagen, and Boston College. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at New York University under the supervision of Prof. Yann LeCun. He has served regularly as an area chair for IEEE-IV, and an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems since 2014.
