CARNEGIE MELLON CHAMBER SERIES: Clarion Quartet Plays Weinberg

In lieu of the Chamber Series performance with Vadim Gluzman previously scheduled for January 18 (postponed to April 12), the Carnegie Mellon Chamber Series will present an encore broadcast of the Clarion Quartet's performance of the Weinberg Piano Quintet, recorded in April 2019.

The Piano Quintet by Mieczysław Weinberg is arguably one of the greatest quintets of the 20th century. The Polish-born Weinberg composed many significant works and was a contemporary of Shostakovich, though less well-known. The Clarion Quartet, who are members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra dedicated to performing the works of suppressed composers, gave an impassioned performance of this incredible piece that the CMU School of Music is pleased to present as an encore.

Due to the pandemic, the 2020-2021 Chamber Series performances will be virtual only, livestreamed on the CMU School of Music YouTube Channel. There is no cost to watch these livestreamed performances.  For the full schedule visit

The Carnegie Mellon Chamber Series is generously sponsored by Mrs. Cynthia Friedman.
